Many people that I know have always said you learn way more in that first year out of school than you did when you were in school. Obviously I had to learn plenty in college or I never would have passed the BOC exam and be in the position I am today. 2011 Year in Review

Everybody else is doing it so I guess I might as well, too! I’ve had the blog going now for about 7 months and I’ve had some posts that have seen a lot of activity. I’m going to highlight the top 10 posts of the year.

I want to thank all of you have read my blog over the last several months. Since June of this year, I have tried to provide insights to fitness and athletic training from the viewpoint of a Certified Athletic Trainer. This week’s Exercise of the Week is one I mentioned earlier in Fitness Toys Galore. The BOSU Squat. I believe this can be a great exercise, but you have to perfect your squat form on flat ground before moving to this surface modality. I think the biggest problem I find with this exercise is when people can’t squat properly first, but think they can do this. Fitness Toys Galore

Working in multiple fitness centers allows me to see many different pieces of fitness equipment. Some of them are great while others aren’t worth the money it cost to ship them. I’m sure we’ve all seen the commercials for the Ab-Wheel and the Shake-Weight. While the Ab-Wheel may have a use (never tried it) I just have to shake my head thinking about the Shake-Weight. Somebody may come along and tell me that the Shake-Weights works great and all I’ll say is, “Have fun.” Read the rest of this entry »
