This week we’ll bring back the kettlebell with thisexercise of the week. Here’s a short instructional video on the kettlebell snatch. Enjoy!

I work in two fitness centers and assist with rehabilitation in both clinics at those locations as well. In one office there is a dominant population that consists of an older population while in the second one there are many younger individuals although there remains plenty of the elderly population as well. The differences in the way fitness training occurs in these two facilities are quite different. I realize that much of this is due to age, but I also much realize that much of it also has to do with a lack of knowledge and misconceptions that come into much of it. Read the rest of this entry »

Still got that kettlebell handy? If not, go find it and get it out. Another week and another kettlebell exercise. This week’s installment of Exercise of the Week is the Turkish Get Up. Last week we learned the half-get up and this week we’re going all the way!

Get that kettlebell out for this week’s Exercise of the Week installment. We’re going to do the Half-Turkish Get Up. There’s a video below. Start light and take your time. We’ll build this week and add to it in the future..

Exercise of the Week this week combined the kettlebell with some of Dan John’s fun. We’re going to swing those kettlebells overhead and start lunge walking. This video just shows lunges in one place, but I would do them walking.

Kettlebell That

January 9, 2012

Today’s workout was definitely one you could do just about anywhere. I did go to the gym which gave me a variety of kettlebells to work with. I was there for about an hour which is plenty long enough with that! Read the rest of this entry »

New Years Workout

January 1, 2012

I saw at the gym today there are plenty of people already destroying their New Years Resolutions. 6 hours of work and only 9 people made their way into our fitness center today. If they don’t start today, when will they start? 😉

I had a pretty good workout this evening.

800 meter walk

1600 meter run

4 Rounds for Time

–800 meter run

–15 Squat Cleans

–10 Kettlebell Shoulder Presses (each side)

Time: 36:14

Good way to start the new year. Another good workout tomorrow..

The kettlebell snatch is a single arm exercise coordination and timing. I use a smaller ‘bell for this exercise because personally I like my wrists! This exercise is similar to a single arm swing, but at the top you’re going to punch through which will change the momentum of the kettlebell and it will swing over the top of your hand. It will finish resting on your forearm.
