11 Reasons Youth Sports Need Athletic Trainers

  1. Concussion education and concussion management must begin as early as collision sports begin.
  2. A major factor in orthopedic injury is previous injury.
  3. Emergencies occur at the youth level too!
  4. Proper warm up and cool down are important in the prevention of injury.
  5. Most coaches are volunteers who may have little to no first aid knowledge.
  6. Cardiac conditions are a concern in youth athletics.
  7. Athletic Trainers are trained to determine emergency/nonemergency.
  8. Education about sports injuries is important for initial treatment.
  9. Overuse injuries are prevalent in youth sports.
  10. At least one study has shown youth football produces hits similar to that previously found in college football.
  11. Every Athlete Deserves an Athletic Trainer.
