Pink Out

October 4, 2011

It’s October and if you’ve turned on football you have likely seen the pink. The NFL has turned it on strong this weekend with all of their pink apparel, tape, and towels. My alma mater, Southeast Missouri State, is also participating in two separate but related campaigns. Several years ago the Southeast volleyball team hooked up with Saint Francis Medical Center out of Cape Girardeau, MO for a “Dig For Life” campaign. As a part of this campaign, the Redhawks accept donations from fans and supporters based on the number of “digs” recorded at home volleyball matches throughout the month of October.

Last year, other teams at SEMO joined the fight in what has become “Pink Up Cape.” The women’s soccer team kicked off the month on Sunday
with a win over SIUe sporting pink jerseys. You can be sure the Redhawks volleyball team will be sporting their pink tonight as they face the Eastern Illinois Panthers in their own “Pink Up” game.

And remember donate to the various organizations that
support breast cancer patients and survivors. We will beat this disease and
keep fighting!
